Strategic importance of the pilot
Pilot 3 aims to validate and enhance its processes while establishing a safe, replicable, and affordable solution for the growing energy storage market. According to IEA forecasts, European energy storage capacity is expected to expand from 4.1 GWh in 2020 to 39 GWh by 2026, driven by supply-chain deficiencies and the increasing demand for electrified vehicles. This growth will generate significant battery waste and necessitate an effective Circular Value Chain to extend battery lifespan and recover qualified components. The initiative aligns with the European Circular Action Plan (CEAP) from March 2020, promoting sustainability in the sector.
Target process-chain
Validation of the overall validity of the AutoMat outputs and solutions can be assembled into to functioning and “industrial-like” demonstrators, certified by using international standards. Affordability and reliability of the solutions will be deeply investigated, to develop innovative and replicable business models can include ancillary services as remote-predictive maintenance programs.
